The BT Boats (Barca Torpilor)  were equivalent to the Fairmile MTB's. These were very useful escorts that could be used to back up the RSL torpedo boats as Leaders or covering units. Fast enough and heavily armed to worry even destroyers. These boats were made to be tough.

The first of the class did not appear till 1941 and were built both at Dubrovnik (6) and Constanta (18) over the next four years. Their heavy AA armament was also very useful against other light craft a lesson which both the Russian and Commonwealth light forces learnt to their cost. A pair of bow mounted torpedo tubes surprised many an opponent.
