New Golf Buggy 09/2025

Golf is a passion of mine. Love getting out there and chasing that little white ball. Though not chasing it everywhere as I do happen to hit it in the water on occasion. Just lately I have had real difficulty getting around my 18 holes. Knees, hips, back and other assorted joints and muscles do not appreciate my love of golf the way I do. They tend to leave me crippled and unable to enjoy my beer after the round. I sit down, drink my drink (coke zero), and then I try to stand up. Well. Just about everybody in the clubhouse hears me stand up. Creak, crack pop, a few four letter words and I straighten up as far as my back will let me and hobble out to the car.

Not unsurprisingly I have had enough of this. I have used every excuse to myself NOT to play as I know how I am going to feel after my round of golf. Action needed to be taken.

So I have bought a single person golf buggy. Paid for it on the Tuesday, then had to drive up to Auckland and back on the Wednesday. 13 hours in the car. Bit of a shock to the system. I did encounter an unforeseen problem. When I did my due diligence and research on the buggy, it shows the buggy broken down into four major parts that could be loaded into a smallish Station Wagon / SUV vehicle. No problem. Until I tried to pick up the rear part of the buggy with the electric motor in it. That was beyond me by about 30 years. It is too heavy for me to handle.

Option two came into force. Two ramps that allow you to drive the two major parts of the buggy up into the back of the car.

Was pretty much a zombie on the Thursday. Was going to try it out on the Friday in the clubs Monthly Tournament, but was still a bit stiff and sore so decided Saturday would be the day.

Saturday was my day to be the Starter at the Golf Club and that would give me time to put everything together and get ready for the buggy's debut. However while driving to the Golf Club it rained heavily. Light showers continued and when the showers stopped the cold wind blew. My hopes for a buggy debut were falling fast.

So here it is in the back of the car, all packed up and ready to go.

Looks like Monday will have to be the day.
