ANS Hippolyte (BB-1900)

Amazonian Navy
page:
The treaty with Britain allowed the Amazonian Navy access to technical
information that the Royal Navy was allowed to give to its allies. In most cases
brand new information generated by the Royal Navy would be retained for twelve
to eighteen months so that the Royal Navy always maintained an advantage. Where
the Royal Navy noted that friends or enemies had the same information, the RN
would ensure, that all of its allies, would also have that information. The
Hippolyte class had the new model twin 12" fitted.
The Hippolyte Class were the first ocean going battleships built by Murovia. The
previous classes had been coast defence vessels that were rated as battleships
and cruisers, these ships were discarded at the end of WW1. The Hippolyte were
interesting in that they had three twin turrets fitted while other nations were
only having one turret fore and aft. The centre turret was only useful for
broadside firing but this was not thought to be a problem as fleet actions
usually ended up with the ships of each force running side by side, battering
away at each other till one side or other withdrew.

Hippolyte was one of the early 'Queens' of the Sisterhood. It was her
toughness that brought the Indians to heel and hammered out a satisfactory trade
deal.
