A day that started with great expectations as we teed off (I actually had an ok tee shot, good second downhill from there) and went chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Wow! I did not par the first today, bogeyed it instead. Did that improve my day? Sadly not. I had a good second hole but still managed one bad shot on the hole that took the hole from a par to a bogey. That was a recurring theme for the day. One bad shot per hole making it difficult to score well.

I did well on the third hole scrambling a par with a very good chip to the pin and a tap in for par. Holes 4-5-6-7 were bogey or worse. By the 5th my pot of gold had virtually disappeared.

Then came the 8th. Absolutely fabulous tee shot, and as the pic shows, ended up half a meter from the pin. Tap in birdie. A great feeling. Didn't last long, the 9th was back on the bogey trail.

Onto the back nine which was not good. Nothing there to bring me back on Friday for the Monthly tournament. Best I can hope for is rain.

Tale of the tape was not pretty. Shot a 91 for 28 points. 26th out of 30. Winner had 38 points. I am a long way away from the leaders.

I have analysed what I am doing and can only put it down to a lack of concentration. My mantra is "Head Down and Follow Through", but I am not doing that often enough to bring the good scores on the holes.

Maybe next week. Weather looks a bit yuck for the next 3-4 days.
